This business started over twenty years ago with one guy and a simple idea: treat people right, and the rest will take care of itself. Mike, our founder, was transplant from Illinois who started shipping cars up north from Florida. There is still demand for Clearwater and Tampa cars heading north. When he went back north, he took the car bug with him.
Mike wasn’t looking to start a junk car company. He was just a guy who liked cars, had a big Irish family that always needed affordable rides, and liked solving problems and helping people. Friends would call him when they had a vehicle that wasn’t worth fixing, and somehow he always found a way to make the deal work. Eventually, the calls kept coming, and Kelly Car Buyer was born.
Today, his daughter Michelle and her husband Jim run the business, and Mike is semi-retired in Sarasota, Florida. They still do it the same way Mike did; one car, one customer, one promise at a time.
